Phyllis-
Vicki Horton's compilation of Hampshire Co. Personal Property Tax Lists
1800-1814 (Romney, 1995) lists the following:
1800, Upper [Western] District (that's more or less the part that later
became Mineral and Grant Cos., I think)

himself--and one common horse)
Sharadine, Paul; 2-2 (two tithable white males, incl. self, and 2 common

[The lists are alphabetical by first initial of last names]
1801 Upper District
Sharadine, Paul 2-3

1805 Upper District

1806 Upper District
Sharadan, Paul; 1-3
1807 Upper District

There do seem to have been two Pauls, an older and a younger. You can get
Hampshire Co. deeds starting from 1757 on microfilm through the Mormon
Family History Centers, and they are often a rich source of
information. You can order the grantee and grantor indices to deeds on
microfilm as well, to see which years you would want to order (each
microfilm covers one or two volumes, usually anywhere from one to six
years). If you have date and names, you could try ordering a copy of your
deed from the Hampshire Co. courthouse, but I have not found them helpful
even when I was able to supply exact dates, names, etc. The West Virginia
Archives has a lot of Hampshire Co. records on microfilm and they ARE very
helpful (in return for a $10 search fee--see their web site for
particulars. http://www.wvculture.org/history/ )
Good luck!
