The earliest record I know of the Pancakes in Hampshire County is a "deed in
trust" dated March 3, 1770 between John and Andrew Pancake and Felix Seymour
and Abraham Hite. This is from "Hampshire & Hardy Counties, [W]VA
Abrstracts" by Larry G. Shuck.
John and Andrew were the sons of Jost Pannekuch and his wife Maria Agnes
Godtschalk of Franconia Twp., Philadelphia (now Montgomery) County,
Pennsylvania. Jost was there as early as 1727. The last record of the
family in Franconia Twp. that I know of is in 1760 when Jost sold his
tavern. I haven't found any records of this Pancake family in the 1760s.
