I posted at the Hancock County web site, and have never rec'd any reply, so
thought I'd try again. My original post follows, with additional new
information:
Surnames: PETTIJOHN, MAGUIRE
I am searching for information about my paternal grandparents, about which
little is known, and their ancestors, about which nothing is known. My
father's father, Glenn Louis or G. L. Pettijohn and his wife, Florence Maguire
Pettijohn, are deceased, as are my parents.. Apparently my father, Glenn
Beauchamp Pettijohn, was also searching for information about his parents, as
I found in his effects after his death a letter dated May 28, 1957, in
response to a letter he had sent to the CIty of Weirton, and which had been
referred to the Hancock County Court Clerk, D. G. Stewart. The letter states:
"Your parents marriage record is found in Marriage Book 11, page 83. Their
birth dates are not given just their ages at the time of application. Your
father gave his age as 26, your mother as 22." Unfortunately, I have no other
information; I do not know their birth dates nor the date of their marriage,
nor do I know if they were originally from Weirton, lived in Weirton at the
time of their marriage, or had family or ancestors from West Virginia, Hancock
County or Weirton. Any information about Pettijohns or Maguires in Hancock
County, or in Marriage Bk 11, page 83, would be gratefully received, thanks

I now know that Glenn Louis Pettijohn, my paternal grandfather, was the son of
S. A. or Simeon Augustus Pettijohn and Ellen Lydia Beauchamp. I have searched
the WV db's and Hancock County DBs online. Anyone with information about any
Pettijohns, Maguires or Beauchmps in Hancock County, information is greatly
appreciated, Patricia Pettijohn
