Janice,
Thanks for including this, I'm excited to see any mention of Jacob STARR and wife Barbara. Their daughter Sarah/Sallie married my ancestor John RENICK in Bourbon Co. KY. Information on Jacob has been very hard to find.
Also, I notice that Magdalin Yoakum is another widow traveling to that area with her daughter's family (like my ancestor Elizabeth REED/REID). This seems to be a well-travelled pathway.

I have a couple of people in my database who went to Bourbon County, KY
Abstracts of 1812 Pension Files
Jacob Yoakum, wife Madalen, R11939, was born in DEC. 1753 in Hardy Co.
VA & he lived there when he m Mary Magdalen Wilton 8 Oct 1782 in
Hampshire Co VA, sol appl 21 May 1833 in Hardy Co VA & sol d there in May 1838,
wid appl 24 Nov 1840 in Bourbon Co KY aged 88 & she died there 23 Mar 1841, in
1846 a daughter Rebeckah the wife of Michael Neff made aff'dt in Bourbon
County, KY
Jacob and his brother George inherited their father's 575 acres when he died.
I believe Jacob Yoakum died in 1838 in Hardy Co., VA but his wife died in Bourbon Co., KY.
Looks like she went there with her daughter and son in law.
An earlier migration to Burbon Co., KY was Jacob Starr born abt 1765 in Hardy Co., VA and his wife Barbara Yoakum,
daughter of Philip Paul I and Elizabeth Harness.
My only note states Jacob Starr and family moved to Bourbon Co., KY about 1800.
