Birdie Garnes, 95, of Wingo, KY, formerly of Jackson County, departed this life, December 28, 2001, at her home, following an extended illness.

She was born April 8, 1906, in Kenna, a daughter of the late Columbus Monroe and Rosetta (Lewis) Reed.

She was a homemaker and a protestant.

Surviving are sons, Harold Garnes, Kenneth Garnes, and Roy Garnes, all of Point Pleasant, Earl Garnes of Great Falls, MT; daughter, Mildred Deason, of Wingo, KY; brother, Kermit Reed of Charleston; 16 grandchildren, several
great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Jackson Garnes; son, Carroll Lee Garnes; several brothers and sisters.

Service will be Wednesday, January 2, 2002—11 am at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, with the Rev. Sinnette Summers officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairplain Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 ­ 8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
