Message Board Post:

Would like to have copy or a transcript of an obituary, if one exists, for Malinda Norris (nee Martin) and for her husband, Cornelius Norris.

Malinda (Martin) Norris was born about 1833 in Meigs county, Ohio to Joseph Martin and Eliza Sleeper. She married Cornelius Norris on 4 Apr 1851 in Meigs county, Ohio. She reportedly died 25 Feb 1899 in Jackson county WV. We were hoping to find her at rest next to her husband, but there is no listing for her near her husband and we have not yet found her grave elsewhere.

Cornelius Norris was born 27 Nov 1827 in Ohio. He died 23 May 1907 in Jackson county WV. He is buried at the Otterbein cemetery in Jackson county W-Virginia with his last wife, Rheuamia Norris (nee St. Clair), and where one of her children (Hugh Jasper Sayre) and at least two of her three prior husbands are also buried.

There were 10 known Norris children according to census records, all born between 1851 and 1875: Mary E, Cinderella, Louisa, Abram, Floyd, Cornelius E, Sinah, Canzada, Riley M, and Viva Norris. The family was known to live in the area of Ripley (1880 census), or in the Union district (1900 census).

Your assistance would be appreciated.
Thank you. Claudia Glass, Kansas
