Can some one let me know if this message is reaching the list??? My mail kept bouncing yesterday. My
Workman family history can be found on the Logan County Web Page under Early Settlers. Much mis
information has been printed and circulated for years about my Workman line. I have ALL extant deeds,
estate settlements , and court records land grants and census records pertaining to my direct lines of
descent.. Published records at LDS, The Logan County Genealogical Society and other sources have
lumped several families together, without doing an indepth search of public records. People have specutated
and published speculations as fact. We do a great dis service to ourselves and our posterity when we just
accept whatever we see in print as the "gospel." All of my Logan County surnames have been published by
others in various ways and researchers keep repeating the same old errors, without going to primary records
for documentation. I am in the process of retyping my records on ALL of my Logan County surnames, to try
to correct some of the mis information that has been circulated since Henry Clay Ragland's about my
ancestors. Ragland was a newsparer reporter, NOT a genealogist.
To find FACTS, I had to check Virginia, Kentucky, WV, Maryland, TN, NC,and PA records to find some
of them.
My Logan County surnames are: Smith, Bryant, Workman, Marrs, Mullins, Hensley, Farley, Runyon,
Thompson and Stollings.
Some of my Virginia surnames are: Steele, Fannin, Francisco, Deskins, Maxwell, Marrs, Short, Bolling and
Rolfe.
I spent close to twenty years working on these families in PUBLIC RECORDS, cemeteries and lots of travel
- to find distant relatives who had family Bibles and old photos.
I do not have time to "exchange" research. I have done my "homework" and am now turning it in, by
publishing it on the Internet. If you use my work, please say where you got it- and then check the
ORIGINAL records for documentation. If you find errors, let me know and I will correct them, giving credit
to the person who did the work.. ALL of my records will be placed in the US GENWEB PROJECT, after I
have published all of them on the Internet..
