Hi All,

Received some information this weekend on the family of Jane VANCE who
was married to Evans FERRELL (commonly Evans Ferrell "Jr') the son of
William and Mahala (Tiller) FERRELL. This information suggests that Jane
VANCE was the daughter of James "Jim" VANCE.

I believe that Jim VANCE was the child of Elizabeth "Bettie" VANCE d/o
Abner and Susannah (HOWARD) VANCE. Was Ephriam HATFIELD's mother Nancy VANCE
the sister of this Jim VANCE? I have seen references which suggest that
this is the case.

My copy of Ragland's "History of Logan County" states that the father of
Bettie's children (Jim VANCE & Mrs. Ephriam HATFIELD) was John, but doesn't
say John who. I have been told it was John FERRELL. Was this a typesetting
error in the updated version (page 41)? Was it common knowledge (any
proof?) that John FERRELL was the father of James VANCE?

Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated. I am researching
the family of James "Jim" FERRELL s/o Evans and Jane (VANCE) FERRELL.
