Hi, folks. I apologize to anyone who feels this message is off topic...

The Gary High School alumni website is conducting an online auction/sale to benefit the McDowell County victims of last month's horrific flooding. One of the items being auctioned off is a copy of Lacy Dillon's They Died for King Coal. This book provides details on 57 coal mining disasters that took place in West Virginia between 1894 and 1980. In each case the author includes a list of the miners who were killed.

This book has been out-of-print for some time and is difficult to find. I'm posting this message to the this list because I know that this information is of interest to many of those with family histories in the southern West Virginia coalfields.
