I'd contact THE POINT PLEASANT REGISTER. Their first publication was March
6, 1862 and they are still in business.
http://www.cnhi.com/register/ It is now a daily newspaper and at one time, I
believe it was a weekly paper. The business has changed hands, but has been
continuous since 1862.

Subject: [WVMASON] Mason Co. Newspapers

Does anyone out there know where microfilm of old newspapers from Pt.
Pleasant or Mason Co. can be viewed or purchased. The West Virginia
State Archives in Charleston has a set of Pt. Pleasant newspapers on
microfilm that are not very good. In the late 1800s and early 1900s all
they have is a weekly paper and many weeks are missing. Besides that,
there are sections, that look like they might have been obituaries that
have been cut out of many of the pages.

Did Pt Pleasant have a daily paper in the late 1800s or early 1900s?
Would obituaries from Mason County be found in any other newspapers?

Does anyone know where microfilm of old newspapers might be purchased?
I have a microfilm reader at home. It would be nice to be able to
browse through some of these at my leisure. What ever that is..
