Chris, et al
I have walked this property. The creek is directly behind the high school,
within 150' perhaps less.

The William Harman who is grantor in this deed was most likely the son of
Mathias Harman, who was the grandson of Mathias Harman Sr of Dry Fork,
and the brother of my gggrandmother Christina Harman. The land in this
deed is part of the land that William bought from Mathias in 1876 deed bk
4 page 200. If this is where Big Creek High School was built, this deed
has profound import for the heirs of William Harman, since the school is
being closed. Does anyone know where War Creek is in relationship to the
school? This old deed has historical significance that bears further
investigation. I wonder if someone would like to submit it to any West
Virginia newspapers that might be interested.
If you want a copy of the record let me know at so we
don't clutter up the list.
