My ggggrandfather was Phillip Shrewsbury, from Mercer County West
Virginia. Anyone with information on his family, please email me

Good Evening Cousin Elena,
I have a Philip Shrewsbury b.6-10-1831 and m.2-2-1860 to Mary A
Godfrey and d.3-18-1890 and is buried in an abandoned cemetery in
Mercer County. His parents were John and Elizabeth. I list Nancy
E Shewsbury as his daughter.
I also know that a Philip Shrewsbury was in Civil war and first
joined the 151st Virginia Militia. He then joined with the 17th
Virginia Cavalry 9-6-62 in Mercer County. He was captured at the
Battle of Cedarville 11-2-64 and was sent to Point Lookout, MD to
stay until the end of the war. He was released on 5-14-65.
Both of their grave markers, the last time I was there, were on
the ground with one broken. Their graves are along side the road
with the cattle freely roaming all around and over them. I hated
it, but couldn't find the land owner to protect them with a fence
