Clark,
The WILSON family is really elusive. One of my great grandmothers was
Eliza Ann WILSON, wife of Jeremiah EDMAN. She was born 1835 in Lewis Co.
VA and died 1907 in Calhoun Co., WV. She was the daughter of Samuel
WILSON and Margaret SIMS. I have been unable to learn anything about
Samuel. It's as though he married Eliza, fathered children, bought and
sold land and was no more. I don't know when or where he was born,
various sources say VA, PA, and Ireland. No death or burial record, no
parents, no siblings. He was in Lewis Co. in 1850, Ritchie Co. in 1860,
Gilmer Co. in 1870, Calhoun Co. m 1880 and was then no more.
I grew up in Calhoun Co. and I remember a Bill Wilson visiting and mother
called him Uncle Billy. I've placed inquiries in genealogy newsletters
in all pertinent counties but no response. I would be forever grateful
for any assistance. I have no living older relatives in my immediate
family.
