Does anyone know the location of the community of Elk in Pocahontas Co?
Supposedly my ggg grandfather, Joseph W. Courtney, performed an heroic act
and saved some neighbor's cows there in the midst of a great snow about 1840.
I'm trying to locate his homestead and family members.
