I also found this Silas Bird in 1860:

Stephen W. Bird age 40 <1819> VA
Malinda age 37 <1822> VA
Silas age 16 <1843> VA
Pearson age 14 <1845> VA
Harmon age 11 <1848> VA
Armsted age 9 <1850> VA
James age 4 <1855> VA
Hoye age 1 <1858> VA

I can see that a Silas Bird is in the 1850 Wythe County, VA census, but the
census page is so light that I wasn't able to see the details.
