Her name is Mary Frances McGraw-Philips (daughter of Samuel H & Mary McGraw)
She was born in October of 1850 according to the 1900 Census.
She was born in Putnam Co, then VA. She married James Allen Philips on Nov
20, 1867 in Putnam County. They lived just north of Buffalo I'm
understanding. James Allen Philips was born December 15, 1833 in Kanawha
County and died February 01, 1901 in Putnam County. According to the Death
Register. He is said to be buried in McGill Cemetery but later I find this
cemetery was looted of its headstones about 1995. Several relatives I have
heard were buried there. Nobody has the information copied down that I know
of. The Cemetery was a small family plot nestled upon Luke's Hill (Cain
Hill) near Buffalo. I have not heard if the stones were ever returned, this
information was given to me by a cousin who found them, then when he
returned to transcribe the stones they were missing. I know James had R.E.
Blake as the funeral director in the register. I believe Mary Frances must
have died sometime after 1905 but before 1910 because of Family accounts and
census information. She is believed to have died in Putnam County or near
it. I have checked Mason county with no avail. I have not received a full
death certificate of James just the microfilm register, Could there be more
information on the real record? I am kind of at a loss to find her. Any
thoughts on some next steps. Traveling to Charleston or Buffalo while not
impossible isn't so easy at this time.
Any help thoughts or information would be appreciated. I can also supply
more info on their 6 children.
Three of them also would have been buried at this cemetery I believe. Two
Sons James Allen Philips Jr (1860-?) and William C. Philips (1875-?)
I have no idea about death information of other than they died before 1900
and after 1880.
Thanks,
-Brian.
