>From my Dad in response to the recent postings on the mail list:
There were only two Methodist churches in Fetterman. They both are still standing. The red brick
one on the corner of Main St. and "a side street" has been sided with white aluminum or vinyl siding,
so dosen't appear as it did then. The second one is the little "brown stone" church across the street
from my "birth place" house at 1317 W. Main Street. It has a cornerstone that says it is a
Southern ME Methodist Church. I always went to Sunday School there.
Mom and Dad, Ruth and Joann were members at the one further up Main St. toward town. It
was called the "West Main Street Methodist Church". It and St. Andrews Methodist Church (what
is now the Mother's Day Shrine) combined to form the Good Sheppard Methodist Church on top of
the "Hospital Hill" ...US Route 50......which is now the biggist or "main" Methodist church in Grafton.
Both of those Fetterman churches would have been there during the Civil War, I think?
