61st VIRGINIA INFANTRY Partial Death Roll

The following is a list which was published in the newspaper
I found on microfilm. There was a listing for several days
in a row, with different Confederates.

Perhaps one of your ancestors is listed.

date: April 14, 1875

The following is a death roll of COMPANY 'C', 61st Virginia
Infantry, during the War Between the States:

Lieutenant St. Julian WILSON, mortally wounded at battle of the Crater,
July 30th, and died in hospital, July 31st, 1864

Wm. BANKS, died in hospital, Norld, May 6th 1862
Enoch F. BELL, died in camp, at United States Ford, March 30th, 1863.
Gideon T. BYNEN, died in Chimborazo Hospital, January 23d, 1863
James C. BYNEN, died at Hanover, Junction, Orange Courthouse, Feb 13th,
1864
Benj. B. CORVELL, killed at battle of the Crater, July 30th, 1864
Theophilus CREEKMORE, died in hospital, Lynchburg, March 7th 1863
Nathaniel FORBES, died in camp, at United States Ford, April 14th, 1863.
John C. GALLOP, died in hospital Richmond, March 20th, 1863
James GUILFORD, died in hospital, Charlottesville, May 16th, 1863
Solomon A. HILL, died in hospital, Culpepper Courthouse, Oct 16th, 1862
Miles W. HALSTEAD, died in hospital, in August, 1864, from wound received
July 30th, 1864 at the Crater
Wilson M. KHER, died at Hanover Junction, May 7, 1863, from wound
received May 1, at battle of Chancellorsville
Willis LEE, died in hospital, Petersburg, June 17th, 1862
James P. W. MERCER, died at Hanover Junction, May 7th 1863, from woud
received May 1st, at Chancellorsville;
Peleg Miller, died at Fort St. Helena, April 18th, 1862
Mathias MANSFIELD, died in hospital, Petersburg, Oct. 10th 1862
Samuel MERCER, died in hospital, Richmond, January 8th, 1863
Henry MELSON, died in camp, at United States Ford, April 1st, 1863.
James M. McPherson, killed instantly at the Crater, July 20th, 1864
James NORTHERN died in hospital, Richmond, in May or June 1863
John RHONER, died in Chimborazo Hospital, July 15th, 1864
John ROLLISON, died in chimborazo Hospital, Feb 7th, 1863.
Joseph SAWYER, died in camp, at Fredericksburg, February 24th, 1863
Nelson SAWYER, died in hospital, Richmond, January 20th, 1863
David A. Stewart, died in camp, at Appomattox, June 29th, 1862
Gideon L. SAWYER, died in hospital, Richmond, January 19th 1863
Thomas TURNER, wounded at battle of the Crater, July 330th, 1864 and died
a few days after, at the Brigade Infirmary
David WHITEHURST, killed by the fall of a tree in camp, near
Fredericksburg, Nov 30, 1862.
Josiah WALLER died near Riddick's Ferry, on his way to join the company,
June 15th, 1862
Landers WATERFIELD, died in hospital, Lynchburg, Dec. 31st 1862
