Hi, Everyone:
I am going to do a big project in the near future - - I got an old book on
eBay about the 12th WVI and I am going to put it online (FREE) and add to
it.. And my Civil War medals page continues to grow ..... The following is
an article I wrote for some publications.

CIVIL WAR INFORMATION NEEDED FOR INTERNET PROJECTS
Linda Cunningham Fluharty, coordinator of the Marshall, Pleasants & Calhoun
County WVGenWeb pages and the Wheeling Area Genealogical Society web page, is
gathering information about Civil War Veterans for two projects:
12th WEST VIRGINIA INFANTRY BOOK COMING SOON ON WEBSITE
An upcoming project on the Marshall County WVGenWeb page
(http://www.rootsweb.com/~wvmarsha/marsh.htm) will be a comprehensive work on
the "The 12th West Virginia Infantry." Companies "A", "B", & "C", were
formed in Marshall County, Company "D" was formed in Ohio Co, ”E” & “G” of
this Civil War Regiment were formed in Harrison County. Other units were
assembled in Marion, Taylor, Brooke and Hancock Counties. Ms. Fluharty
plans to put her newly acquired, 1892 book about the 12th online and is
inviting the public to submit information, such as transcribed
pension/military records, photos or biographical information.

OWNERS OF CIVIL WAR MEDALS LISTED
“The Civil War Medals of West Virginia…Where Are They?”
(http://www.rootsweb.com/~wvmarsha/cwmedals.htm), created a year ago, lists
current owners of the bronze medals awarded to West Virginia Civil War
Veterans or their families following the war. Internet Genealogy has quickly
taken researchers back to ancestors in the Civil War and many are eager to
know the whereabouts of ancestors' medals.
Some of the medals have been cherished family heirlooms since they were first
awarded. Others were buried with soldiers or have found their way into
pawn-shops, flea markets, retail stores and private collections.
The West Virginia State Archives still holds thousands of unclaimed medals
and relatives of the Civil War Veterans are encouraged to apply for them.
Anyone owning a West Virginia Civil War medal is invited to submit the data
inscribed on the medal's rim, along with other biographical information about
the soldier and his family. Providing contact information in the online
presentation is optional.
