The genetic origins of Dupuytren's disease and Dupuytren's contracture of the tissue in the palm were not understood until last year when an article appeared in Clinical Genetics: "Mapping of an autosomal dominant gene for Dupuytren's contracture to chromosome 16q in a Swedish family. "
Because there is an autosomal chromosome involved in the problem -- and NOT the male Y-chromosome -- the disease would be randomly inherited from mother or father. Thus this disease has nothing whatever to do with haplogroup G or any other Y-chromosome haplogroup whose mutations are passed solely by a father to his biological sons.
The Y-chromosome is unusually devoid of segments connected to genes. The only medical conditions associated with the Y-chromosome seem to be male fertility problems. Within the last year, one researcher has reported that certain haplogroups are more prone to prostate cancer. ("Prostate cancer incidence varies among males from different Y-chromosome lineages," published in Prostate Cancer and Prostatic Diseases) However, verification of this latter finding in additional studies would be desirable in order to be widely accepted.
