I am working from an old, probably unpublished ms which says, in part,
"Captain Yancey, Confederate Army, gave Elizabeth Cauley, when a girl, a field telescope captured from the Union forces...".
Elizabeth lived in the area of Deerfield, Augusta County, Virginia.
Info anyone?
