A few days ago I subscribed to the Yocum-L digest as my neighbor and I
are trying to put together a local history of the area in Oregon where
we live. Early settlers to Yamhill County, Oregon included Franklin
Yocum and Ira D. Stephens. From the 1900 Census I've learned that Ira
D. Stephens' parents were both born in Tennessee, but Ira was born in
Oregon in March 1854. The Yocum family continues to have land holdings
in Yamhill County, including this Highlands area north of Sheridan
where we live. Are the Yocums and Stephens pioneers of Oregon
connected to the Yoakums and Stephens recently posted to the list? We
would really be interested in any additional history you might
contribute for our project.
