Harrogate Herald - 9th April 1947

Photo - On Wednesday the wedding took place at St Mark's Church,
Harrogate, of Miss Mary (Mollie) Worstenholme, youngest daughter of the
late Mr and Mrs H P Worstenholme, of Castleford, and Mr James
Cockshott, only son of the late Mr T Cockshott and Mrs Cockshott, of
Farsley.

The choral ceremony by the Rev G Sparrow. The hymn "O, Perfect Love",
was sung, and the wedding marches from Mendelssohn and Lohengrin were
played by the organist of St Mark's Church.

The bride, who was given away by her cousin, Mr Geoffrey Waterhouse,
was dressed in ivory moss crepe; she wore a veil of Limerick lace, lent
by the bridegroom's mother, and her jewellery consisted of a pearl
necklace and ear-rings. She carried a bouquet of pink roses and lilies
of the valley.

The three young bridesmaids, Miss Anne T Bannister, Miss Margaret E
Barker, nieces of the bridegroom, and Miss Angela M Thompson, niece of
the bride, all wore dresses of rose and turquoise taffetas; they wore
matching poke bonnets and carried posies of spring flowers. They also
wore gold chain bracelets, gifts of the bridegroom.

Mr A C Thompson, brother-in-law of the bride, was best man, and the
groomsmen were Mr W Crabtree and Mr G M Worstenholme, the bride's
brother.

After the ceremony a reception was held at the Cafe Imperial. The
honeymoon is being spent in Ludlow. For travelling the bride wore a
fine corduroy suit, topped by a beaver lamb coat.

The bridegroom, who served in the RAF during the war, is a partner in
the firm of Marsden and Cockshott, solicitors, of Bradford, he is also
Clerk to Calverley Joint Hospital Board, and the President of Farsley
Young Conservative Association. The bride, until recently, was a member
of the staff of the Ministry of Labour, Harrogate. During the war she
served as a Naval VAD (British Red Cross Society) in England and
Ceylon.

[Photo] Miss Janet Maria Bendelow, daughter of Mr and Mrs R Bendelow,
of 24 Kirkgate, Knaresborough, and Mr Charles Cockshott, son of Mr and
Mrs D Cockshott, of Holme Bottom Farm, Nidd, near Harrogate, were
married in St Mary's Church, Knaresborough, on Saturday. The bride is
a former employee at R Ackrill Ltd, Montpellier Parade, Harrogate,
currently working as a clerk for Knaresborough Urban District Council.
The bridegroom is a farmer.

Mrs Doris Cockshott and family wish to express their most sincere
thanks to relatives, friends and neighbours, for all letters, cards and
kind support and for all who attended the service during their recent
sad bereavement. Grateful thanks for generous donations in memory for
Leeds General Infirmary and Arkendale Church.
