for Art HUNTER.

The Book on Quakers I mentioned, is "Friends in York" published in 1978, by
William Sessions Ltd, The Ebor Press, York. This includes a "Table of
Rowntree Relationships" starting with William Rowntree 1727/98, followed by
four sons, one of whom is Joseph 1801/59.

Joseph(I) is listed as having three sons,
[1] John Stephenson Rowntree, 1834/1907, wife Elizabeth Hotham and five
children.
[2] Joseph(ii) 1836/1925, wife(1) Julia Seebohm and (2) Emma H Antoinette
Seebohn, 2 Children
[3] Henry Isaac, 1838/83, wife Harriet S. Osbourne, no children listed.

[1] John S. is listed in 1881 Census, RG11/4717/101/8 - of Mansion House,
York, Lord Mayor & Tea Dealer, with wife Hellen D. and 4 children at home.
[2] Joseph(ii) is listed in RG/4717/93/19, of 19 Bootham, York, Chocolate
Manufacturer, with wife Emma and 5 children.

It appears the "Tree" in my book only includes male descendants !!! I can
send you photo-copy of this if you let me have your snail-mail address.

There is also a mention of ROWNTREE, in Yorkshire Family Histories &
Pedigrees by Stuart A Raymond, which lists "The Rowntrees of Riseborough,
York, 2nd. Edit. 1982 also by William Sessions Ltd, address above, sorry do
not have E-mail address for them, This says includes Pedigrees - 17-19th
Centuries

Hope this is of some help.

Gordon Dyson, Yorkshireman from Halifax area, but now in Bury in
Lancashire.
