On Saturday, the 12th inst., at Low Harrogate, John Walker, Esq., of Whitby,
aged 68 years.

Harrogate Advertiser - 19th June 1852

On Saturday last, a gentleman named Walker, from Whitby, died rather suddenly
in this town, where he had been staying some time for the benefit of his
health. On the Sunday previous, while walking about the Royal Pump-room, he
was suddenly seized with a fit, which caused him to stagger; as he was
falling, some gentlemen standing by caught hold him and placed him on a seat,
after which he appeared to recover, and assured them he was quite well again.
He retired to his lodgings (which were contiguous to the Pump-room)
unassisted, but afterwards became worse from subsequent attacks, and expired
on the Saturday following, and was interred on Thursday last, at High
Harrogate. On enquiry we hear he was predisposed to apoplectic symptoms.
Deceased was far advanced in life, and was unattended by any friends or
relatives at the time of his decease.
