Loved this one Jane, in true "yes minister style" .

I started reading this out to my husband and found it hard to do for
laughing because it makes the problems of a similar nature he has just had
at the hospital where he is their maintenance man pale into insignificance
by comparison. However he understands only too well where you are coming
from.

I work there also and some of my colleagues have been wading in water
(particularly the laundry lady), while he organised solving the problem. We
are still having to walk round a cage which should be covering the hot water
system etc. as he has this dug up and is waiting for it to be re-filled and
hopes the problem has been fixed.

It doesn't seem to matter where you live these days, the problems are
similar.

By the way my husband served his apprenticeship in the UK in the mid 60s as
a Heating and Ventilating Engineer when Central heating was in its infancy.
Arrived in Australia and they had no need for central heating so he had to
find a new direction. It has just started to been seen as desirable when he
is almost ready to retire.

Jean in S. Australia.
