Tripe was a regular dish at my grandparents home in Huddersfield (which I
admit is very close to the border) and we had home made raw onions pickled
in vinigar (still like this). I would occasionally try a bit of their
tripe. (I also tried their Christmas rum etc too.) The brown cow-heel
wasn't too bad. It wasn't a treat for me but it was regularly sold in the
shops during the time I lived there. I can't remember it being on sale as a
special treat in the same way that Fish and Chips were.
