So football is non-gen?

My family history is 'all encompassing' - I simply want to know
everything about my ancestors and I am sure that my descendants will be
interested in the exciting events of this UK bank holiday that are
affecting this Nation of ours.

I am neither a Royalist (sorry folks) or a football fan myself, but I
and my family are still caught up in the many events celebrating a Queen
who has reigned for some 50 years and I am patriotic about the fact that
England qualified for the World Cup (thank you Beck's for that
spectacular qualifying goal) and I shall certainly be watching all of
the England games, despite the fact that I picked South Africa in my
firm's sweepstake.

It is a family story that my wife's grandfather played for all three
Hull teams e.g. soccer with Hull City FC and rugby with both Hull FC and
Hull Kingston Rovers - I have proof that he certainly played for a
soccer side during the Great War that comprised many Hull City players
against an Army team (it is mentioned in a local football book) and I am
still searching for evidence in his role with the other teams.

How many other family researchers have football players or sportsmen in
their ancestry?

Sincere Regards,

Kevin P. Dodson
