Your father must have had an interesting time as a test pilot. Was he
an officer or NCO or civilian? What aircraft did he fly? Where was he
based? How old was he when he became a test pilot? Both my
grandfathers served in World War 1 in much more humble roles in the
trenches and both were wounded, though lucky enough to escape with
their lives. They both served again in the Army in the Second World
War as did my father but he joined the Royal Navy.
