As a child in the 1950's growing up in Hessle High Road in Hull I
remember the milkman having an horse and cart working from his depot in
Hessle Square. The Co-operative milk man was more modern, he pushed a
large handcart! BTW: anyone remember the Co-operative milk tokens? The
coalman also delivered by 'hoss & cart' and of course the rag 'n' bone
man too.

I also remember a man coming around every Monday morning hiring washing
machines to the more well-off - my mum still used the dolly tub and
posher!

We seemed to have a considerable number of rounds men in those days -
only the Rington's tea man seems to be around nowadays.
