I think the clocking off was more an habit than anything else. I noted in
my localpaper tonight that they also took their safety cards as well to say
they were out. I also spoke to a friend of mine who worked for 20 years
down my local pit and he said it became habit totake and hand back in your
tally that you wouldn't realise you was doing it
