I have just done a search for the will of Mary Staveley who died in Hayton in 1854. Her husband who died later than her in 1866 said that most of his children had been provided for by his wife's will. However, on checking on findmypast, I see that the register says no more than Mary Staveley, Hayton, not proved.
 
Please does anyone know know any reason why her will would not be proved and what exactly this means? Is there anywhere I would be able to get a copy of her unproved will?
