I've no personal connections, but I suggest that you start by taking a look
at the YorkshireBMD web site (www.yorkshirebmd.org.uk
<http://www.yorkshirebmd.org.uk/>; ) where you can find not only John &
Mary's marriage but those of most of their children (I can't see one for
Elizabeth). Use the soundex option when searching, as the spelling of the
name seems to be pretty random.

I am hoping that the name SHARROCKS or SHORROCKS in Hunslet may mean
something to someone.

John Shorrocks was born in Dukinfield, Cheshire, in 1849 but by 1871 he was
lodging with Elizabeth Winterbottom and her granddaughter, Mary Rayner, at
Powell Street, Hunslet. (His name was spelt SHEROCKS) John married Mary the
following year, I'm not sure where, and I have them in 1881 and 1891 still
in Hunslet. I believe John died in 1904, but haven't found him in 1901.

John and Mary had at least six children and I'm interested in what may have
happened to them: Ellen (1875), Maria (1877), Elizabeth (1879), Emily
(1880), John (1883 and Joseph (1886).

Hope these may ring a bell with someone.
