Read this very useful booklet on Coroner's Records, particularly page 7, where it describes who may request copies of the records, and the section on the destruction of the records.

Subject: [YORKSGEN] Scarborough, North Yorkshire library look up please.
Hi Everyone. I've been on the trail of a lady, Susan KNIGHTS (nee DOBBS aka THORNTON and GRANTHAM)
who has been elusive for 13 years and finally, thanks to the 1911 and Margaret in Toronto I have found her, married her off and killed her off in the space of a few weeks.
My problem now is that she died on 16 June 1913, cause of death - acidosis and diabetes. An inquest was held on 17th June 1913.
Now since Susan has been such an integral part of my research for soooo long I'd like to close the chapter on Susan and get a copy of the Coroner's report if possible or at least a newspaper cutting if anything exists.
I've contacted North Yorkshire archives who tell me that :-
Although the records of Scarborough Corporation have been deposited here
at the North Yorkshire County Record Office, they do not include any
coroner's records later than the 17th century. They have referred me to local libraries for newspaper articles/obituary etc but given that I live in Australia it's not going to happen soon.
If anyone goes to the library on occasions and would be good enough to search any local papers for a snippet I would be grateful. Otherwise it will have to go on the ever growing "to do in UK" list if i ever manage another trip.
Of course if anyone on the list has any other suggestions of where a document might be obtained that would be brilliant.
Look forward to hearing some suggestions as this is my first coroner's report/inquest so am learning all the time.
