I am tracing my husbands family. His father Ray is the only living child of James Albert Zeigler/Ziegler of Ohio and is of no help. What we know is this:

James Albert Zeigler, b. 2 Sep 1884, married Cora Lee in Fostoria, Seneca County, Ohio on Mar 5, 1910. They moved to S Dakota shortly thereafter and we have all the information on Cora's ancestors, and for Cora and James Albert's descendants. Croa and James Albert did not discuss their families in Ohio, (supposedly they were the only ones who came "West," but from James Albert's death certifcate we know his father was John or Johann Ziegler/Zeigler/Zigler, born abt 1840 per my calculations, and his mother Susanna Zilliox. They were married on Oct 2, 1870 or 1871 in Butler Township, Knox County, Ohio, (or possibly Hamilton County, Ohio). Again, we have the info on Susanna Zilliox's ancestors, but nothing on John. We dont know what state John was from or if he emigrated from Europe. I suspect his family is originally from the Alsace-Lorraine (Weyersheim) area of France/Germany, near the Rhine river, as that is where this Zilliox family originated, but that is all I have. Can !
