Edward H. Zimmerman, NORTHFIELD

NORTHFIELD-Edward H. Zimmerman, 89, of Greenwood Drive, died Monday at Franklin Regional Hospital after a period of failing health. He was born in New Brunswick, N.J., the son of Martin and Margaret (Klein) Zimmerman. Zimmerman lived in Edison, N.J., moving to Northfield in 1985. He worked for Mack Truck in Plainfield, N.J., for 29 years and as a fireman for the County of Middlesex, N.J., for 21 years until retiring. He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Tilton. Survivors include a son, Edward Zimmerman of Northfield and Hilton Head, S.C.; two grandchildren, Lauren Zimmerman of Bristol and Kristie Markey of Stanfield, N.C.; and four great-grandchildren. His wife, Frances, (Williams) Zimmerman, died in 1997 A memorial Mass will be held at a later date. Burial will be held in St. Peter's Cemetery in New Brunswick, N.J. Memorial donations may be made to the Tilton-Northfield Recreation Center, Summer Street, Northfield 03276.
William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home, Tilton, is in charge of the arrangements.
