Subject: [BOZEMAN-L] Early Bozemans and other provocative matters

I had read somewhere sometime ago that our Bozeman may have descended from
a William Bozeman, who was heavy in the slave and diamond trade in Africa.
Seems the William originated in the Netherlands. I did not get the URL,
but it was an interesting site. Also, Nancy had mentioned that she had
talked to someone who said our early Bozeman started the Apartide system
in Africa. I hesitated to mention this for obvious reasons.
(Those who know me are aware I'm always walking where Angels fear to
tread. Besides that, how else how I going to learn what sin is about?)
<Grin>

Anyway, in our quest for perpetual information, we neglect the big
picture. What is the Big picture on Bozemans? This is my analysis:
I have recently read that anyone in the deep Southern States at early
ages were involved with, married to, or just plain WERE of Indian
heritage. So far the only genuine Cherokee was the Nancy WARD line.

Now, the Bozemans in our family, seem to have been preachers, farmers
etc.. I have been reading background info on the Eastern Cherokee,
and it turns out that many religious groups were in the extreme South
as teachers or ministers to "help civilize" the so called heathens,
being ?the Indians? of course. Anyway the men of the cloth must have
done a darn good job, as it was nothing to find Cherokees who read
and wrote extremely well. Many lived in homes, designed buy
Philadelphia architects. These home even had glass windows, which
were highly unusual at that early time.

I would venture to say that both the caucasions, and the natives
found their association mutually satisfying until hatred, greed,
and the government got involved in Indian removal.

I have a couple of questions about the Warren Dist, where Jacob
was at one time. The first is, was the Ann Bozeman there in 1790,
Ann Richardson Bozeman? The second, question is did the Bozeman's
that went North to ILL do so, because they could not tolerate the
miss treatment of the Indian? (Found that many escaped the infamous
"Trail", and just plain never registered.)

Also, I just received the following, and thought I would pass it on
for those who have not seen it.

(first the jobs, and now the genealogy went East):)
