Yesterday's "mail" about Bullocks and Bozemans has given me some desire to
write a few lines with my coments. Still recouping from major surgery, but do
read my daily mail with great pleasure, so here goes.
When back in MD last fall I copied quite a few pages from the book "THe Bloody
Bozeman" about John M. Bozeman's involvement in the scouting of the Bozeman
Trail. For anyone who wants to know more about this man it is quite
interesting, but doesn't give much history about him or his family. Only that
he left a wife and children in GA and never saw them again, as he was killed
of course while on the trail. I failed to note the author and I am sorry--a
grave error I shouldn't admit to. So it goes. Not sure he is related to my
Luke Jackson or Samuel, would like to hear more if anyone can fill that in.
Also about Bullock. Seth Bullock was one of the first sheriffs in the Dakota
Territory in about 1876. There are books written about him also, and since
Bridger, Bullock , Bozeman all went through this Dakota Territory the chances
of the connection is very good. The book we have is "Seth Bullock- Frontier
Marshall" by Kenneth Kellar-----his grandson. So could Seth be William's son
or grandson?
Hopefully this will add some interest to the questions....
