Thanks Ann. I have a couple of questions if you don't mind.
On # 4 David M. Browning: Did you mean Mary Ann "Polly" English or Engliah ?
I have a subsequent spouse as a Mrs Neetman. I do not have anything about
marriages to Minerva Allen and Mary J. Potts. That would mean this David had
4 wives ?? Guess that's not impossible, but odd.
My Mrs. Neetman info came from some old Clark County info as follows:
"David Browning came to the county in 1836, and moved to the place purchased
by
Joe Browning, where he opened up, and for many years cultivated an extensive
and
exceedingly fertile farm, since known as the Townsend farm. Some years after
settling in Clark county, David Browning, then a widower, returned to Alabama
,
and there married Mrs. Neetman. I vividly remember the time he returned with
his
bride, and the sensation the event occasioned in the neighborhood. The cause
of
the sensation was, that the new Mrs. Browning was a Catholic. A Catholic in
those
days in that wooded country was something entirely novel and afforded a
genuine
sensation." (Page 35)
Does anyone know for sure how many wives this David really had ?
Emma
