Hello Chris, Cris, Doug, et al.,

I have found another possible source for the parentage of Margery de
Bohun.

Maud d'Eu (aka Maud de Lusignan), lst wife of Humphrey de Bohun (d. 24
Sept 1275), died 14 August 1241. This makes her unlikely to be the mother of
Margery de Bohun (Theobald de Verdun being born in 1248 'or before').

Under Hereford, CP (Vol VI, p. 462) advises that Humphrey then (undated)
married Maud de Avenbury, parentage not established. The marriage is also
undated, although it must have occurred before 1261 [1]. There is no
specific record I have found connecting Maud de Avenbury to Margery, but she
is known to have had issue. At least one son, John de Bohun, of Haresfield,
co. Glocs is identified by CP (Vol VI, p. 464).

Virtually any marriage date for Humphrey de Bohun and Maud de Avenbury,
between 1241 and 1260, would leave room for a daughter to be born, be married
in 1274 (or somewhat before), and have a son b. 8 Sept 1278 (Theobald, 2nd
Lord Verdun).

Seems we have another swimmer in the gene pool........

Good luck, and good hunting to all.

[1] John de Bohun, identified above, served on behalf of his nephew Humphrey
(d. 31 Dec 1298) as Constable of England during his absence in Wales, 1282
[Palgrave, Parl. Writs as cited by CP Vol. VI, p. 464]. He could not
reasonable be taken at that date to be younger than 21.
