Do this help you see my point? We need to think outside the box of
conventional wisdom on this subject. I don't think one rate fits all. I
think something is going on with each male line Y chromosome's average
mutation rate which makes the average rate vary from one male line
(surname project) to the other. And of course that underlying mechanism
is being passed down over the generations from father to son.

I still, believe that we are having some reverse mutations in some of these
lines. My first match in my FRENCH line is at least 10 generations & 355
years away (we have the location but not the common ancestor). We are an exact
match at 25 and 2 mutations at 37, at CDY. I have another exact match at 25
as well from the same area same timeline.

Then we tested two persons from my known line who are 5 and 6 generations
(225 & 250 years) away from the common ancestor, respectively and we can
triangulate, and one line has 2 mutations out of 12 and the other has 4 out of 37.
My Haplotype is the modal at 25 and 2 off at 37.

Either there is something in the lifestyle of some lines that cause
mutations or we are looking at reverse mutations in the earlier matches.
