I just briefly scanned the Russian Newsweek article (I
translate technical Russian, but much of the
vocabulary is unfamiliar and my dictionaries are at
the office) and found references to G2 in the 4th and
8th paragraphs of the last section (headed by the
photo of the gent with the fancy epaulettes).
Apparently a theatrical director named Aleksandr
Burdonskiy (a "vnuk" [= grandson] of Stalin) submitted
a DNA sample to an unidentified testing compnay, and
the result came back G2.

I'll probably translate the article for my own sake
eventually, and will be glad to send the translation
to anyone who wants it, but I can't promise when.
