Hi,
I guess I did not make myself clear... But I think Orin knew what I was
asking.. Becaus he said to use G2 as the model haplotype..
Could you give me an opinion on this Please!
Nelda
If I understand this correctly, I can use his haplotype as an estimate from
which to gage other haplotypes from, for this group.. if we found or tested
another man (G1a) and he was off again from say G1's haplotype by say 2,
then he would be 5 from G2's haplotype so normally not related to G2, but
since the new man (G1a) was only 2 from G1 we could look at that G2 having a
son (A) who G1 descended from and G1a could descend from either G1 or A..
Now do I understand this correctly? and does it make sence??
Their lineages:
G2
1. WILLIAM JOHN GILPIN Father's name WILLIAM GILPIN, mother's name
unknown.
Born Abt. 1833 in Ireland, and died 04 Nov 1884 in Pontiac Co.,
Quebec, Canada.
He married MARGARET MCILREAVY 15 Sep 1854 in Seagoe, County Armagh,
Ireland.
(#A) William Gilpin b. Ireland born date ? about 1800 - about 1783
(estimated by gong back 20 - 50 yrs from son's birth year.) both in
County Armagh
G6
John Gilpin: born, 16 June 1821, County Armagh, Northern Ireland.
Died, 4 July 1877 in Mulmer Township, Ontario, Canada. He married
Elizabeth Quigley: born, 10 June 1821, county Armagh, Northern
Ireland. Died 13 Feb. 1908 Tecumseth Township, Ontario, Canada
(#B) UNKNOWN b. Ireland born date about 1800 - about 1771- both in
county Armagh
G1
2. John G. Gilpin (Father, First name unk1) was born August 14, 1828
in Montgomery Co., Ohio and died January 30, 1880 in Clay Township,
Hamilton Co., Indiana. He married 1st Mary Ann Graves January 31,
1850 in Abington, Wayne Co., IN; book E page 400. She was born July
1, 1828/1830 in Potsdam, Lawrence Co., NY and died January 17, 1872
in Clay township, Hamilton Co, IN, daughter of John Graves and Mary

Hamilton County, IN. Bk.4, p.350. She was born July 23, 1846 in IN,
daughter of First name unk. Juell and First name unk. Juell, maiden
name unk..
Note: G1 has been thought to be related to Thomas Gilpin and Mary
Fletcher both from County Armagh, Ireland.
(#C) have no idea of name, but if you use 20 yrs 50 yrs from birth
you get about 1800 1778 for birth year of this parent.
Lets look at:
(#A) William Gilpin b. Ireland born date ? about 1800 - about 1783
(date of birth estimated by gong back 20 - 50 yrs from son's birth
year.) in County Armagh (can't be John G's father he was still in
Ireland)
(#B) UNKNOWN b. Ireland born date about 1800 - about 1771- in county
Armagh (can't be John G's father as unknown is in Ireland in 1821 and
has son John who lives in Canada)
(#C) have no idea of name, but if you use 20 yrs 50 yrs from birth
you get about 1800 1778 for birth year of this parent. Birth place
unknown.
Thomas Gilpin and Mary Fletcher married County Armagh 1794 so about
20 yrs old at marriage? 1774 for birth yr? (possible father of John
G.Time frame is right and in Ohio right area or his son John, born
Ireland)
Richard Gilpin and Mary Boretree married County Armagh 1781, about
20 yrs old at marriage/ 1761 for birth year? ( not possible father of
John G, he has a child born that year)
Are these brothers or cousins? We need Thomas and Richard's
descendants tested.
A 1783 County Armagh
B - 1771 County Armagh
C 1778
Thomas 1774 County Armagh
Richard 1761 County Armagh
I'd say we need to research County Armagh parish records from 1750
through 1800's
The relationship could be as close as the 1700's or could be as far
back as 20 generations or about 1500's. Isn't that about the time
from of the Scaleby Castle son (John?) who was a merchant and (rumor)
took four sons with him into Ireland? Check out the Boretree Gilpin
Pamphlet.
