m-Sophie Reams, about 1800, she died 8-23-1830, They first resided
in Moontgomery and Wilcox Counties, Ala., 1820-1833, thence
to Texas. William served in the War of 1812.

| The compiler has ben unable to obatain the names of the |
|children of James, it is conjectured that he was twice |
|married. There was a James Hanks, b. 1808, in S.C., who |
|lived in Ala. from 1820 to 1833, then went to Texas with his |
|father. Paddock's HISTORY OF CENTRAL AND WESTERN TEXAS gives |
|the father's name as William Hanks, b. 1770. If correct, the |
|James should be listed under a William Hanks, after the |
|birthdate of Mary, which has been done, as James. |
