Looking for information on the ancestors of Jeptha PROUTY born in Troy,
Bradford Co. Pa. 1812 and Elijah PROUTY presumed to be born in Mass. in
the 1700's and died in Bradford Co. about 1814. Have not been able to
find any conclusive information on Elijah or his origins only
suppostions. Looking for concrete evidence that will prove that he is
the father of
Jeptha Prouty and place and date of birth, marriage and death for
Elijah.
Possible connection to an Ezra and Roxany Prouty of New York. Both Ezra
and Jeptha had sons named Chester W. Prouty. In the late 1840's and
early 1850's Ezra's family lived in Tioga Co. (Middlebury) Pa. very near
to where Jeptha and his family lived. Later, 1890-1910, both of the
Chester W.'s were in Lane Co. Oregon. Jeptha's mother Elizabeth, was
first married to Ephriam Blakesley, who died in April of 1808, she then
married a Mr. Prouty, (presumed to be Elijah) and they had one child
Jeptha. Elijah died about 1813-14 and Elizabeth Prouty married Jehiel
Ferris in April of 1814. I have been unable to locate any cemetery
record that shows and Elijah Prouty. Cannot locate a will or land deed
with information.If anyone can provide clues as to where to find this
information I would like to hear from you.
