The following obituary notice appeared in the April 16, 1907 issue of the
Smiths Falls ON Rideau Record:

"Mr. James Allen, a former resident of Toledo, Leeds County, On passed away
recently at Little River, South Carolina. His home was in Wilmington,
North Carolina and the body was taken there for internment. The Wilmington
Star in a report of his death states that Mr. Allen was one of the best
known millwrights in that State. He was a man of genial disposition, kind
hearted and true, and was the friend of everyone. He was 74 years of age
and is survived by his wife, two daughters and three sons. The deceased
was an uncle of Mr. Herbert Allen of Smiths Falls, On. Can."

I would like to correspond with any living descendants of James Allen to
exchange genealogical information on our "Allen Line" and/or receive a copy
of the obituary which appeared in The Wilmington Star. Willing to pay
reasonable out of pocket expenses.
